The FranzBy Traci VogelPublished on August 06, 2008 at 4:22amLove him, hate him, Oprah outcast Jonathan Franzen has a place on bookshelves across the country. His 2001 novel The Corrections provided fodder for cocktail gossip while simultaneously managing to penetrate gnarled Gen-X hearts with its story of aging parents and alienated children. He lands here at the humble Make-Out Room as part of writer Stephen Elliott's Progressive Reading Series, which benefits progressive congressional candidates. Even if you're not a Franzen fan, you might enjoy one of the other writers on the bill: former soldier Matthew Eck, author of the novel, The Farther Shore; Tom Barbash, author of The Last Good Chance; Michelle Tea, author of Rose of No Man's Land; and Davy Rothbart, editor of Found magazine.
