Having judged the past three qualifying rounds of San Francisco's air guitar competitions, I have high hopes for our local contestants in this year's national battle. For one, the U.S. Air Guitar Championships moved the nationals here, meaning our local qualifiers — Ricky Stinkfingers (S.F.'s '07 champ), Hot Lixx Hulahan (U.S. winner in '06), and Awesome AKA Shred Begley Jr. (this year's local qualifier) — have the home turf advantage. These three face men and women from across the country, shredding oxygen for a chance at the Air Guitar World Championships in Oulu, Finland, at the end of this month.
