Barcelona-based duo The Pinker Tones might be the only Latin band participating in this year's edition of the Warped Tour. But audiences wouldn't guess the band's Spanish origin by the music, which is a blend of psychedelic pop and '80s-inspired electronica that sounds much like a movie soundtrack. That cinematic aesthetic is no coincidence, since cofounders Mister Furia and Professor Manso first worked together producing the score for a television series in 2001. On their third CD, Wild Animals, the Pinker Tones continue to experiment with new genres, adding ska, bossa nova, and garage rock into the mix with intriguing results.
