Patrica Stroud has been a Bay Area artist since the 1970s, and values natural forms in her abstract sculptures. Her use of natural materials like wax and sand, on top of all that, makes us think of Stroud as sort of a visual-arts version of Judy Collins: a classic and an enduring "type" whose work is coming back into style in a big, big way. Young bell-bottom wearers might do well to visit "Patricia Stroud, Michael Ashcraft, Judy Krasnick," to see how the authentic originators of the iconic 1970s asthetic do it. Joining Stroud are Utahn painter Ashcraft, influenced by "the eroded landscape of the Southwest and the red rock formations of the Colorado plateau," and Krasnick, a photographer who's only recently abandoned her pinhole cameras for the newfangled digital; we're not sure how we feel about that.
