The Mexican artist Frida Kahlo was a polio victim, and suffered lifelong pain after an early bus accident, but she created dream-like, evocative paintings that continue to draw fans worldwide even 54 years after her death. Artist René Yañez attempts to capture some of this Pasión por Frida by recreating scenes from the artist's life in tableaux, using amateur actors dressed up as Kahlo impersonators. Yañez has been auditioning impersonators throughout the run of SFMOMA's Frida Kahlo retrospective, and today he gathers them all in one confetti-colored unibrowed mass. It might be the most Frida for your buck you'll ever get. To get a taste of the many faces of Frida, check out our slide show of the auditions for the event.
