Lit UpBy Traci VogelPublished on October 03, 2008 at 4:21amThe Mission on a Saturday night, rife with the unexpected: Sidle your ass down an alley and you might find two stiltwalkers strumming banjos. The next doorway might hold salsa dancers playing spin the bottle. Tonight, books break open and the jailbreak prose sings as Lit Crawl hits the hood, severing writers from their keyboards and tumbling them into gutters and rathskellers. At 6 p.m., Bucky Sinister corrals Tarin Towers, Amanda Coggin, and others into Clarion Alley, while food writers Novella Carpenter and Sarah Deseran spice up 18 Reasons. At 7:15 p.m. theres erotica on the tongues at Good Vibrations, and the Grotto denizens shoulder their way upstairs at the Elbo Room. At 8:30 p.m. the Lone Palm harbors survivors of NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month), and writers for The Believer share the faith at the Latin American Club. There are too many readings to list, so, to mangle an already mangled Mark Twain quote, if you dont like the entertainment, turn the corner.
