Fleet Week: you love it or hate it. The Blue Angels' rip-roaring "sound of Freedom" divides San Franciscans like an extremely loud knife through butter. Did we mention that it's loud? Whether you're a fan of the festival or not, you can educate yourself about where some of the noise is coming from by taking a Fleet Week Ship Tour. The free tour gets you topside access to the frigate USS Vandegrift and the guided missile destroyer USS Shoup, where you'll be shown around by crew members. Tours last about a half an hour and cameras are welcome. You should get a great view of the Bay -- and of where some of your tax dollars are going.
Mondays, Tuesdays, 12-4 p.m. Starts: Oct. 13. Continues through Oct. 13, 2008
