Retelling the ancient Greek play cycle The Oresteia as an erotic story set in a 1970s New York nightclub takes a big ego. So does killing your mother to avenge your father when she killed him to avenge his killing your sister in the first place, and so did getting into Studio 54, once upon a time. We hear someone died waiting to get in that disco. Funnily enough, we also hear someone died during the first performance of The Oresteia, during the part when the Erinyes do a big three-part harmony murder screech. Apparently, the parallels are everywhere. Good Breeding is the appropriately ironic title of Robert O’Hara's cover of Aeschylus' smash hit play; it's performed by the students of A.C.T.'s Master of Fine Arts program, whose egos and Afros are undoubtedly fluffed and ready to boogie.
Thursdays-Sundays. Starts: Oct. 9. Continues through Oct. 25, 2008
