Demand for Maxwell the sex symbol has always been hungrier than the demand for Maxwell the soul crooner. This is despite the man's buttery-smooth tone and babymaking music. Fans may reverse their attitude over the next year, though, as Maxwell plans to release an ambitious trilogy, Black Summer's Night, early next year. After a seven-year absence, he returns to the Bay Area to perform at the Paramount Theatre.
