Tony Tony Tony

"It was like kissing Hitler." Somehow, Tony Curtis' description of his love scene with Marilyn Monroe in Some Like It Hot will always define him, whether it was a joke, as he claims, or not. Before you cuss us for throwing shade, though, think about it: The quotation is funny, unexpected, completely unlikely, and brings a new perspective on something America thought it knew everything about. Curtis, who appears in person at "A Tribute to Tony Curtis," is a movie star with incredible range, whose performances in the 1950s and '60s remain as much a discredit to Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt as they were to the vapid prettyboys of the midcentury. We say vapid prettyboys, because Curtis is of course also famous for the pretty. Tonight finds him onstage in conversation with Jan Wahl, following a screening of Hot.
