Monterrey, Mexico's Toy Selectah crafts riveting cumbia remixes of hip-hop that do a lot more than just slap on a Latin beat and hope for the best. He tweaks the chords and sentence structures on familiar songs (like Lil Wayne's "A Milli") to create totally new tracks. On the same evening Selectah comes to San Francisco, more south-of-the-border beats will flow from fellow Mexican DJ/producer Chico Sonido, a rare groove expert who lives in Los Angeles and works with the band Kinky (he produced Kinky's current single, "Hasta Quermanos").
