Though they had long shared an admiration for each other's work, the members of the Hold Steady and the Drive-By Truckers didn't connect until a chance meeting at a show in NYC last summer. When lead Trucker Patterson Hood met Hold Steady guitarist Tad Kubler, a fast friendship formed, and the two immediately planned a joint tour. According to Hood, "The Rock 'n' Roll Means Well Tour" (a title taken from the Hold Steady's favorite DBT lyric) is a selfish excuse for musicians who enjoy each other's company to spend time together — but it's also probably the most literate and energetic rock show this fall.
