Although the members of Mudhoney have moved well into middle age, the Seattle-based fuzz merchants still sound like a snotty bunch of malcontented teens. Two decades and eight albums into the band's existence, singer Mark Arm's sneering howl and the feral guitar roar he unfurls with cofounder Steve Turner remain as ferocious as ever. Recorded in a mere 3.5 days, their latest salvo, The Lucky Ones, exhibits flashes of brutal urgency few garage-punks half the group's age can muster.
