We saw the owls. Several years ago, a pair of owls made a home on Bernal Heights, and we went up to look at them. They looked down at us. They wanted to sleep, but it was daytime and people walked barking dogs. Soon, the owls died. Janet Kessler probably took pictures of them; big, curious, intelligent pictures and maybe she's included some in her exhibition "Celebrating Our Urban Wildness: Coyotes to Quail." Her specialty is the furry and feathered friends who survive the cityscape, like the owls, (sniff! RIP!) or herons on the Bay, or tiny bug-eating bats, or shaggy coyotes.
