Dr. Lisa Bero is on our side. The UCSF pharmacologist studies studies. Studies turn into pills, and we take pills. So it stands to reason that anyone who takes pills might want to know what kind of logic rules those studies. We've heard, for example, that plenty of clinical trials ignore the possibility of health, meaning that no matter what reaction a test subject shows, it's defined as pathological. There is no health?! What the heck kind of implications does that have for the "little purple pill" or whatever? (And why are pharmaceutical companies trying to sell stuff directly to us?) Dr. Bero knows and will tell.
