In the late '70s, Amebix was one of the first to meld together punk and metal, and has been cited as an influence by such acts as Sepultura and Neurosis. On No Sanctuary, The Spiderleg Recordings — a recent collection of the groundbreaking British group's rare early works on Alternative Tentacles — Amebix sounds like a grittier parallel of '80s contemporaries Killing Joke, by no means a bad thing. These godfathers of crust broke up in 1987, but they're back as a trio, with founding members Stig on guitar and Rob "The Baron" Miller on bass and vocals. This show should make for some great crowd-spotting, what with all those old spikes, leather, and thinning Mohawks crawling out of the woodwork.
