One rare recent exception is Wale (pronounced Wah-LAY), a Chocolate City MC buoyed by go-go — the District's timbale-filled take on funk. Working with producers including Best Kept Secret, Mark Ronson, ?uestlove, and Scottie B, Wale and DJ Nick Catchdubs released last year's Seinfeld-themed The Mixtape About Nothing, proving Wale had plenty to say to set himself apart from Lupe Fiasco, Lil Weezy, Common, etc.
