Today a notorious, unrepentant domestic terrorist is due in our city, and we implore you to join forces and descend upon the location early and en masse — and then sit quietly during his presentation and maybe ask a few thoughtful questions and hopefully get your book signed. It’s Bill Ayers! Despite the braying of Sean Hannity and the vomiting of Sarah Palin and the ear of every reporter in the nation, Ayers wisely kept quiet during the campaign, and has only recently begun giving lectures. He slips into the Mission District at an auspicious moment, when the fires of protest are warm in the hearts of our own local activists, still dizzy with their victory over clothing. Viva Valencia la bonita! Ayers appears with fellow Weather Underground leader Bernardine Dohrn to present their book, Race Course: Against White Supremacy, which examines the history of bigotry in politics, policy, and education.
