At last year's Litquake opening event, actress Amber Tamblyn thought she could get some laughs by complaining about Eve Ensler. It didn't go that well. Why not? Well, it turns out nearly everyone loves Eve Ensler. Note to Amber: You want to poke fun at someone, you should maybe choose a jerk. Today, Ensler and longtime collaborator Denis Mukwege are on the Turning Pain to Power Tour, focused on the hundreds of thousands of raped and mutilated women in the Democratic Republic of Congo — you heard about how they're using rape like bullets over there, right, Amber? Mukwege built and maintains a hospital specializing in life-saving surgeries for the many, many women and girls who have been nearly raped to death. Ensler and Mukwege hold an onstage conversation, City Arts & Lectures style, in the same place Tamblyn stood last October.
