It's rare that a modern instrumental guitarist possesses a sound all his own, but James Blackshaw is a true innovator. The London native launched a series of home recordings that caught the ears of critics and the public, leading to a deal with respected indie label Tompkins Square, which reissued his discography last year along with the iridescent Litany of Echoes. Blackshaw weaves kaleidoscopic tapestries on an acoustic 12-string. His fleet-fingered right-hand technique multilayers notes and overtones until a dreamy, magical music emerges.
