João Miguel and Luciano Oliveira were both born on July 12, 1980, so they named their DJ and production partnership the Twelves. The Rio-based duo is fond of remixing other artists, be they indie rock or dance-oriented, but prefers to call the resulting creations "replays" because they transform the songs into altogether different styles. The Twelves' breakout track, a discofied replay of M.I.A's "Boyz," sounds like a Justice or Daft Punk ditty; it's nothing like the original. The pair's performances are largely improvised, with replays crafted live via laptops, drum machines, and keyboards.
