Luna Tics

Alejandro Murguía volunteered in Nicaragua in 1979 — with the good guys, not with the U.S.-backed Contras. He's the author of two books and the former editor of the 1970s local Chicano literary magazine Tin-Tan. We mention this because although the Lunada is a full-moon open-mike event, Murguía is one of the featured readers. So you're going to want to think a little bit before you show up to read your relationship poetry. Do you really want to get onstage with your sad little tale after this guy, who's now a Raza Studies professor at San Francisco State? He probably invented Raza Studies. Bring your A game, buddies. Poet and singer Sandra Garcia Rivera and musician Theresa Perez are also featured.
