Pop-Up Magazine expects 23 contributors. That fact wouldn't be particularly interesting if Pop-Up were a print publication, but it isn't. Instead, This American Life-er Douglas McGray, New Yorker Evan Ratliffe, and The Curiosity Shoppe-rs Derek Fagerstrom and Lauren Smith re-interpret the term "magazine" to mean "live stage show." Among the horde the organizers plan to shuffle on and off stage are ZZ Packer, Michael Pollan, Farai Chideya, and SF Weekly's own Music Editor Jennifer Maerz and our theater writer, Chloe Veltman. We wish everyone luck in this excellent literary (and film-oriented, foodie, artsy, musical etc.) stampede.
