Now that she's released two albums under the Bat for Lashes moniker, Natasha Khan has distinguished herself as one of indie's most willfully eccentric voices. On her 2006 debut, Fur and Gold, she combined goth and girl group styles with mixed success. Earlier this year, Khan upped her game with Two Suns, which introduced Pearl, an alter ego representing her earthier, adventure-seeking side while offering up a fresh crop of Björk and Kate Bush-isms. Despite its finicky concept, Two Suns is instant fun — and one of the least likely pop triumphs of the year.
