More About

Uh-oh: A recent poll shows people in the U.S. don’t think AIDS is a very serious public health problem anymore. So, um, hey! IT IS! Now you know. Today’s (23rd annual — way to go, organizers. Wow.) AIDS Walk San Francisco raises not only money for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the like, but also the ever-elusive awareness mentioned above. While registration will be closed by the time you read this, you can still go over to the lovely park, listen to some music, get educated, and fork over some of your hard-earned cash — it all stays in the Bay Area, helping the poor, the old, the young, and the just plain needy. We have reason to be proud, too — the walk originated here in the city, and has now branched to Los Angeles, New York, and, to be honest, Wisconsin. Iowa thinks it’s owning all the cool in the Midwest, but where is its AIDS Walk? Maybe next year.
