The realm of specialty drink crafting needs you. In case you aren’t intuitively dialed in to unexpected flavor combinations (we’re way beyond strawberries and blueberries here), instructional workshops exist. San Francisco has relentlessly woven its exquisite artisan food blanket, and now is the time to belly up to the loom at Artisan Cocktail Class with Scott Beattie and Lou Bustamante. So bring your black-eyed Susan petals, rare fruits, and pickled hearts of palm, all of which are ingredients employed in Beattie’s new book, Artisanal Cocktails: Drinks Inspired by the Seasons from the Bar at Cyrus. Joining him at the lectern is Lou Bustamante from the Hangar One distillery. Participants get heaps of personalized attention (so go ahead and crave it), as well as instruction in the art of rim sugars and foams and, of course, a couple of beverages. Fresh, seasonal fruit from the Ferry Building farmers' market tops off the drinks with local style.
