Iceland is the undisputed capital of music for the spirit world. But Denmark, home of Hans Christian Andersen and fairy tales aplenty, has a contender in Mew. The trio's indie-prog-pop songs are deeply imbued with transformative moments, and an ability to let small details billow into epic significance. Most remembered in the States for the 2005 single "The Zookeeper's Boy" from the full-length And the Glass Handed Kites, the group has returned after four years with the cheekily named No More Stories ... That's the short version of the title: The full name is an eight-line, 23-word lyric. And why not? Mew's darting, diffuse guitars arch sublimely across lilting keyboards and melodic vocal overtures in an indulgent return to romanticism.
