The Dandelion Dance Theater is known for mixing things up: Dancers in wheelchairs, live music composed and performed by dancers, and choreography set to yelling are standard with this gang. But with Mutt Chapters One and Two, company directors Kimiko Guthrie and Eric Kupers mix kimonos and cowboy boots. Have they gone too far this time? A recent run in New York City was well-reviewed, but still, that was the Big Apple. How will audiences react to country music mixed with live Japanese narration here in the 7X7? The plot (contemporary dance and plot? Another wacky combo by DDT.) concerns the afterlife of a Japanese-Redneck, aka a girl born to a World War II internee and a Texas prison guard; hence the title.
