California Academy of Sciences Turns One

The new California Academy of Sciences opened its doors one year ago this weekend, and one thing has been missing: the big cats. This weekend, we get the big cats. Specifically, a mountain lion, a lynx, and a caracal (?). We also get the Nigerian Masquerade Drummers, the Parangal Dance Company, the dancing troupe Loco Bloco, and the Flying Angels Chinese Dance Company, all performing on a stage in the Academy's west garden all weekend long. And we also get a new planetarium show, Journey to the Stars, which takes us through the life and death of stars. It was a good year. The celebratory acts portend a strong second one.
