The Foul Play theater company performs in black and white. The current production’s source material is in black and white, after all. Staging a series of film adaptations called “Attack of the Killer B-Movies,” the group presents The Bride of Frankenstein between Blue Velvet and Barbarella. Any Halloween-er who has tried to dress as the titular undead wife knows how difficult it is to get the famous hair right -- some people have even gone to the salon and asked to have their hair transformed into a lightning-streaked beehive, only to be flat-out refused by frightened hairdressers. Foul Play, thankfully, forefronts its dedicated wig designer, Jordan L’Moore, as a balm to soothe our worries. The hair will be big and skillfully sprayed; L’Moore is a drag queen. The rest of the production, with its intense makeup and lighting schemes, original score, and old-fashioned theater tricks -- think shadow puppets, footlights, hanky-panky behind the scrim -- promises to be both a hoot and a scream.
