High-Heeled Horrors

They say that on Halloween, the veil between the realms of the living and the dead is at its thinnest, and nowhere is this spine-tingling and ethereal pagan vibe more apparent than on the heavily made-up faces and fake-blood-spattered décolletages of our beloved drag queens. Double-creepy ghoulfriends Heklina (“Dragula” for the evening) and Peaches Christ (“Tran Helsing” to you) host "Halloween: A Party!," a frightening carnival of souls fit for all of the drag damned and their devotees. In addition to a spooky visitation by Los Angeles superstar Jackie Beat (whose scathing and brilliant Mariah Carey parody, “Retouch My Body,” directed by Austin Young, has been burning up on YouTube), local talent is on hand to terrorize the audience with fun and frightful stage hysteria. Local Jack O’Lanterns Raya Light, Putanesca, and Holy McGrail are scarier than usual, as are Lady Bear, Cookie Dough, and Holotta Tymes. Costumes are imperative, and a contest full of money and prizes promises to reward those who work a bloodcurdling look. Terrifying visuals drawn from horror films, dark dance music by DJs Pinky Ring and Silencefiction, and a bunch of crazed queens channeling their inner goth — be afraid, Mary, be oh so very.
