Pablo Guardiola's new exhibit "Primero La Caja" has to do with looking at mundane objects with a new perspective. In fact, that's what all of his work does: Roller skates get newspaper wheels; a greasy paper bag, on closer inspection, is a world map, and teeny books line a brick's edge. He's fond of putting things in boxes, to show they don't belong there, too. Local by way of San Juan Puerto Rico, Guardiola is meticulous, observant, and wry in his photography and installation work; the gallery says this large, sprawling exhibition works together as a whole, one piece building on the next.
