What's in Your Diary?

More About

David Sedaris' writing seldom stays on topic. Thus, The Santaland Diaries is indeed about the pain of a grown man working as a department store elf — a pain sharpened by the protagonist's shattered dreams of getting off the train and heading straight to cocktails with soap opera actors. But it's also about the way you — yes, you — treat your children and/or parents; the terror of windowless basement rooms and the corporate trainings therein; and, most of all, the revenge of the downtrodden. "I'm going to have you fired," people tell Sedaris' main character, Crumpet the elf. "Go ahead," Crumpet thinks to himself. "I'm going to have you killed." Frightening children, elf-on-Santa cockteasing, and insolent jazzing-up of Christmas carols ensue. Actors David Sinaiko and John Michael Beck (12/24-12/27) share tights duty to bring it all to you for the eighth year in a row.
Mondays-Sundays, 8 & 10 p.m. Starts: Dec. 5. Continues through Dec. 30, 2009
