Office Star

Out of the Office

When is the warehouse crew on The Officegoing to be developed? When will Darryl be promoted and take a desk next to Andy, or get caught sending shipments of weed through the loading dock? The actor who plays him, Craig Robinson, appears for three nights at Cobb’s, one of them New Year’s Eve — perhaps he’s underused. Hollywood directors, however, know exactly what they have in the actor: Robinson has been in roughly four films a year for the past four years, including Pineapple Express, Zack and Miri Make a Porno, and Night at the Museum. And next March, he’ll show up in his first starring role with Hot Tub Time Machine, which, despite its desperate lunge for Snakes on a Plane–naming buzz, also stars Rob Corddry and — here it goes off the rails — John Cusack, who all go back in time to an '80s ski resort to make jokes about the '80s. Comedy ... gold? We hope so, for Cusack’s sake. (What are the odds he hoists a boombox?) Tonight, however, catch Robinson where he’s been turning heads since the beginning: the standup stage.
