Apparat will present crisp percussion swathed in gradient reverb on Friday, Jan. 1, at Mighty alongside the moody wafts of Hawaii's Bluetech and the glitch-hop of L.A. auteur Deru. 10 p.m., $20; 762-0151 or www.mighty119.com.
Berlin-based producer Sascha Ring, aka Apparat, composes electrocoustic tracks that bridge the arterial with the ethereal. Whether solo or collaborating with fellow Germans Ellen Allien or Modeselektor, Ring uses granular synthesis and a penchant for strings to texturize arrhythmic beats that draw from minimal techno, electro, and cinematic soundtracking. Live, Apparat's trills circulate at a deliberately nonlinear pace as Ring spontaneously bit-crushes rhythms in and out of deconstructed minutiae, punctuating tracks with orchestrated melodies.
