One of the few bright spots of last summers widely attended and critically panned Great American Food and Music Fest in Mountain View was the appearance of Zingermans Deli of Ann Arbor, Mich. Zingerman's was one of few vendors to bring enough food to feed the hungry hordes, satiating angry attendees with perfectly crisp shards of Nueskes applewood-smoked bacon. Last year, Zingermans co-founder, Ari Weinzweig, released his third and most epic book, Zingermans Guide to Better Bacon: Stories of Pork Bellies, Hush Puppies, Rock 'n' Roll Music, and Bacon Fat Mayonnaise. This deli-centered book is so dedicated to the bacon, in fact, that a limited pigskin leatherencased collectors edition was produced a luxury not afforded to Weinzweigs previous food tomes. While illness caused the author to cancel a Bay Area appearance to promote this book in November (were trying to resist the flu joke), he is now set to appear in the flesh with a ration of easy bacon ideas.
