The Believer mag and McSweeney’s gang pull together for a new art installation and music thingamajig called “Ecotones.” Someone fills the loo with stuffed animalia, someone pours caffeinated cocktails, a pair (NewVillager) sings sweet off-kilter pop songs, and some others show cheeky little movies. Christy Chan, for example: The exhibition’s theme is, roughly, “weird home,” and Chan’s most recent video work was inspired by her residence at the Headlands Center for the Arts. It shows wild animals inhabiting abandoned parts of the former military base the center is built on — the place has many layers of “weird home” upon it already, but by watching her scruffy neighbors out there, she may show us something entirely new. Other contributors include Sonya Genel, Conor Buckley, and swashbuckling man-about-town and Believer editor Andrew Leland.
