The Pharcyde

No longer your grandfather's jazz club, Yoshi's in San Francisco has spent the last year opening its stage to leading rap artists, with more big-name acts on the way. First up is the Pharcyde, a Los Angeles–bred group popular in the '90s that broke up in 2004. It reformed for the 2008 Rock the Bells tour, where crowds of up to 10,000 sang every word of its sampleadelic, easy-swinging hits "Runnin'" and "Passin' Me By," hip-hop classics recognizable from their first notes.
