We've heard some people don't like grits. Excellent: More for us. Over the five days of the sf|noir Wine and Food Event, a vast array of Caribbean, African, Creole, Southern, vegan, and soul food items will be on the menu as a tasty celebration of Black History Month, along with a lot of wine, poetry, and other fun. But tonight's Shrimp and Grits Taste-Off at the Museum of the African Diaspora involves Bay Area chefs' specific interpretations of the classic African-American dish, each with a wine pairing. If this is not your idea of "I must have been very good in a past life," then you are crazy, and will please enjoy the other sf|noir events and leave the grits to us. Many of the wines at these events are from African-American–owned wineries, notably at the Wine and Food Gala on Feb. 27, which features more than 100 wines.
