Few DJs have helped boost dancefloor culture into the 21st century like New Yorker Adrian Bartos. As Stretch Armstrong, he teamed up with Robert "Bobbito" Garcia for most of the '90s on the legendary Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito show on Columbia University's WKCR, launching the careers of Notorious B.I.G., Nas, Wu-Tang Clan, and countless others. Bartos has lately leveraged his proto-mashup remix work into an uptempo four-on-the-floor DJ style informed by Baltimore club music. That change has perfectly suited him for the sweaty postdisco weekly Blow Up, which has been thumping steadily for the past five years. Stretch plays the night twice this weekend.
