SFoodie Recommends: Taking Liberties on St. Patrick's Day

March most definitely means the golden-emerald chance to celebrate Ireland and St. Patrick's Day by tippling fine Irish beer and whiskey. This year, you don't need to guzzle your green beer for six hours straight without stopping for a food break. Stretch out the good times over a one-week period, and even bring the family or dog along if you like. Starting on March 14, the Liberties Bar and Restaurant (998 Guerrero at 22nd St.) has a Week of Long Pours (think Guinness, Kilkenny draught, Redbreast 12-year-old whiskey, and Black Bush Irish whiskey), with hearty brunch, lunch, and dinner plates to soak up the booze. Yes, there's the standard corned beef and cabbage or cottage pie made by new owner Kjerstie Utting, but you can also swoop in on a curried samosa made with Irish bacon, black pudding, and curried potatoes. Walk-ins are welcome, or reserve a table by calling 282-6789. (And no, you can't really reserve anything on St. Patrick's Day.)
