It’s hard to find a free-fall as delightful as dating an active alcoholic, and since starting to like ourselves, we’ve sought that excited feeling elsewhere. Finally: “SQUART!,” a solution that won’t threaten your sense of well-being or Percocet stash. Over the course of this evening of hatched-on-the-spot performance and dance, four teams of artists start brainstorming two hours before the show. Their process is transparent to the audience members, who get a glimpse into how ideas conceived become art performed — aka, you can come early and watch them wriggling. Each team takes turns hitting the stage in front of a panel of judges, who include venerable mischief-maker Keith Hennessy and Fauxnique, onetime Miss Trannyshack. With irreverent rabble-rousers such as Philip Huang on the bill, it’s sure to be entertaining and thought-provoking. Live performance is, after all, our safe route to high times that strengthen rather than debilitate the spirit.
