Bringing Funny Back

Maybe it feels terrible to be in a recession and maybe when we’re hurting, we get funny. A "clowns-from-our-tears" effect. There are so many good comedies on the telly right now (30 Rock! Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!, The Ricky Gervais Show! And tens more,) and even the dicey bet of sketch comedy is having some golden moments. Maybe you saw MTV’s Human Giant before Aziz Ansari trundled off to star in the fantastic Parks and Rec? Ansari’s co-stars in Human Giant, Rob Huebel and Paul Scheer, have many-splendored careers independent of their collaboration. Huebel shined as super tan bus bench real estate choad Tevin Downey in 2009’s I Love You, Man, and he’s been making the hilarity rounds on The Office, Reno 911, the newly minted HBO version of Funny or Die Presents…, and lots more. Paul Scheer shows up occasionally on 30 Rock as Kenneth the Page’s arch-page-rival Donny Lawson, and you always want more. Tonight’s show will be straight-up stand-up comedy from two dudes making life a little less crappy.
