Dancing queens, lapsed Catholics, and the park-going public all have reason to titter with delight this Easter as we commemorate the you-know-what of you-know-who in the presence of two hundred or so drag nuns wearing Kabuki makeup. Its the thirty-first anniversary of those local darlings the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence -- powder-faced postulants hell-bent on promulgating universal joy and expiating stigmatic guilt, FYI -- and the annually ensuing pandemonium is upon us. This time around, its name is "Sisters Through the Looking Glass," and it has all the usual trimmings: Hunky Jesus Contest rife with savior-worshipping eroticism, basket-balancing Easter Bonnet showdown, frolicking nun-men. Its also got an au courant Alice in Wonderland twist to boot: Suppositori Spelling, Drama Bin Laden, and the cast of trannie performance club Some Thing present an Alice drag musical (with special guest star Cockatelia!) thats sure to send onlookers screaming down a rabbit hole of fierce cheek, flamboyance, and featherbrained frivolity. All this and live music from singer/songwriter Jeb Havens and musical outfits including Ejector, Silver Swans, and Adonisaurus. Its your annual opportunity to party with a flock of queens whom Pope John Paul II, on a jaunt to San Francisco in 1987, lovingly placed on his papal list of heretics. Hip, hip, hooray for heresy!
