"Bouquets to Art" is a 26-year tradition wherein floral designers from all over the globe grab their blooms to reinterpret or respond to upcoming painting exhibitions. “Birth of Impressionism” and “Van Gogh, Gauguin, Cézanne, and Beyond” come to us from the Musée d’Orsay in France: Immerse yourself in decor inspired by a French chateau’s garden. Toss out your freedom fries (maybe just for a day) and indulge in high tea, served opulently by comestible craftspeople. Then take in the artwork, which encompasses both literal and abstract reflections of the paintings — all made out of flowers. Previous installations of "Bouquets to Art" revealed draping orchids spilling over a container, evoking the waterfall in the adjacent painting. Long birch bark husks clustered together to replicate a girl’s long, white gown, with bright red anthurium shoes. From protea to tillandsia to tulips, the designers use organic and nonorganic material to craft clean lines and fluffy puffs. The week’s activities include talks and demonstrations, a hat contest, and a fashion show.
