La Semilla Caminante/The Traveling Seed, a storytelling performance about traveling, highlights immigrant and indigenous women arriving in and living on the West Coast. It uses indigenous myth bolstered by videos and audio recordings gathered by artist-activists Cherríe Moraga, Celia Herrera-Rodriguez, and Alleluia Panis. The story moves between magical mystical and documentary via their images, culled from indigenous ceremonies held throughout the country. The performers use live music, dance, and other hot moves to bring the original script alive; La Colectiva sponsors a Portrait Day in conjunction with the event, which invites women to write a letter, attach a photo, and send it off for Mother’s Day.
