Rogue Wave's recent Noise Pop show at Bottom of the Hill was certainly a scene to see and be seen at — and the band's first hometown gig in support of the new Permalight on Friday deserves to feel equally celebratory. It isn't every day that a local act makes it to the top of a Fillmore bill, and Rogue Wave's bright 'n' shiny new tunes seem perfectly suited to help the Oakland outfit make the most of this triumphant headlining gig. If it's been a while since you've seen Zach Rogue and Co., you might not recognize all the faces onstage, and there's a chance that you'll be taken aback by Permalight's more exuberant tunes. But Rogue Wave still knows how to make the most of an indie-rock melody.
