Last year, the PianoFight theater troupe, in response to the nationwide Free Night of Theater, instructed its audiences to throw rotten vegetables at PianoFight actors. Fair enough. To facilitate it, the troupe provided serving trays full of rotten vegetables, which theatergoers heaped onto plates. To make sure the produce was hurled and not tucked under the chairs to snack on later, the troupe designed sketch comedy that encouraged audiences to get rid of it as fast and as hard as possible — Samuel Beckett farting into a microphone, that sort of thing — and it rained whole foods. Tonight, they’re at it again. Throw Rotten Veggies at the Actors Nights have crap like Ben Bernanke and Henry Paulson giving stock tips and George Bernard Shaw hassling a young child, so don’t hold back. It comes on the heels of the main act, the audience-judged play contest ShortLived 3.0., which you should not throw vegetables at. You should applaud, like normal people.
