Fans have spent a decade clamoring for Talib Kweli and Hi-Tek to follow up the backpack rap classic Train of Thought with another Reflection Eternal album. Anticipation has long since boiled over, but the singles from their upcoming Revolutions Per Minute suggest that the wait was worth every second. Producer Hi-Tek continues to expand his musical palette, mixing orchestral brass and funk on the Bun B–assisted "Strangers (Paranoid)," and slipping into doo-wop on "Midnight Hour." For his part, Kweli always sounds great on record, but it's a revelation to see him perform live. He could be the best enunciator on the mike, as he slaps your eardrums with each individual syllable.
