Paper, fiber, metal, and wood: These materials are poised to transform a museum in the most intriguing way possible, by taking it over. Even better: We’re invited to watch. Beginning May 27, four artists arrive and commence installation, creating the exhibit “FourSite: 4 Artists | 4 Materials | 4 Sites” through June 8 however they please. We’re most excited about Paul Hayes: He creates swarms of suspended folded paper, resembling flocks of birds, plagues of locusts, or the most incredible confluence of paper airplanes you could ever imagine. Getting the hundreds of pieces of carefully folded paper to hang just so must require any number of trips up and down the ladder — watch it happen! Tom Hill will probably make the most noise: He works in metal. Maybe he’ll even weld some onsite. Or at least drop some. Tanya Aguiñiga is expected to fashion one of her floor-to-ceiling, very beautiful flow-y fiber environments — don’t disturb her — while Christine Lee goes to work on the walls with her iconic wood scraps.
